about your DJ
Hello there, internet friend. My name’s Jess McGuire - I’m a writer, broadcaster, trivia host, and DJ-for-hire. If you’re reading this, it’s highly likely that you’re mostly interested in that last part. Perhaps you’d like to know more? Well, read on.
I started DJing around Melbourne over a decade ago, and over the years I’ve played club nights (GROUSE, Danceteria, Flawless, North Of The Wall), pubs (The Retreat, The Spotted Mallard, The Cornish Arms, Willow Bar), special occasions (closing night parties for assorted Melbourne events like the Melbourne Writers Festival, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Human Rights Arts & Film Festival, and more), music festivals (Falls Festival, Big Day Out), and lots and lots and lots of private functions (corporate events, birthday parties, and weddings - soooooo many weddings, I feel like I may have watched half of Melbourne get hitched at this point. Happily, I’m a sucker for love.).
As well as honing my picking-rad-tunes-to-play skills as a DJ, I also put together music shows on Melbourne’s iconic radio station RRR for many years. My tastes are hugely varied - I love just about anything that sounds good, and my music collection reflects that. Soul, pop, indie, retro, rock - so long as it’s the cream of the genre, I’m an enthusiast.
If that sounds like something that might be suitable for whatever event you’re organising, please feel free to get in touch and tell me what you’re after and when and how long for and I’d be happy to give you a quote.
While I am based in Melbourne, I regularly DJ events in regional Victoria and occasionally work interstate so I am always happy to discuss the possibility of travel if your budget allows for it. It can never hurt to ask, huh?
